Well, it’s here. Today is the official launch of Rockstar Games’ latest Grand Theft Auto IV.

I have really been looking forward to this one. Something about having a HUGE city to just wander around in and do as you please really seems to intrigue me. Not only that, but this one has multiplayer. That could be a blast!

Wow, I've been feeling bloggy lately!

I just got this in my e-mail from the Video Game Voter's Network:

Quote:

A United States District Judge, Northern District of Illinois ruled on Wednesday that the state of Illinois must pay the video game industry over half a million dollars in attorney's fees for its unconstitutional effort to enact a law banning the sale of violent video games.

Said ESA President Douglas Lowenstein, "Judge Kennelly's rulings send two irrefutable messages - not only are efforts to ban the sale of violent video games clearly unconstitutional, they are a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Blog - Games : Sir, Would You Fancy A Game Of Chess?
Posted by Mister Vertigo on Wednesday August 9th, 2006 12:52 PM (230 reads)

A co-worker found this great web site for playing chess. It's http://www.gameknot.com. Anyone can sign up for free. Then you can challenge other people to games of chess. The way it works is you log on to the site and start playing a game. You see the board with all of your pieces and all of your opponent's pieces. Then you make your move, and click on the submit button. Then you can close the web browser and go about your business. Then your opponent logs on to the site and sees that it's his turn on your game. He studies the board and then makes his move. Then it simply goes back and forth until there is a winner.

It's kind of cool because you don't have to be staring at the board during the whole game. You can log in, make a move, and then log out and go about your business. Then minutes, hours, or even days later log back in and make your next move. You can even have multiple games going on at once and set it up to receive e-mail notices when it's your turn on any of them.

Want to challenge me to a game? My name on the site is mistervertigo. Sign up and let's play!

Blog - Games : Empire At War

On February 16th, LucasArts is releasing a new Star Wars game for the PC called Star Wars: Empire At War. It is a RTS game (Real Time Strategy). There have been a few Star Wars RTS games in the past, but to be blunt, they suck. Empire At War is supposed to be the one we have all been waiting for.

A RTS game is kind of like a game of Chess. It allows you to control entire armies that you use to wage war on your enemies. Along with muscle, strategy and cunning are needed to win. Some of the most popular RTS games have been the entire Command & Conquer series, as well as one of my favorite games of all time: StarCraft.

Well, today they released a single-player demo on their web site that people can download and play for free. HOLY COW! THIS GAME ROCKS! It has certainly lived up to the hype, and the release date is not going to be here soon enough. This has to be one of the best marketing tools ever. This demo left me hungry for more. I can't wait! I know a lot of other people who are looking forward to this game coming out too, so I should have some people to play with online when it comes out!

If you have even a inkling of interest in Star Wars or good computer games, you really should try this demo out. I guarantee you will love it. If you let me know, I may even be able to hook you up with a fast and reliable link to download it from too! :)

Blog - Games : I  My PSP
Posted by Mister Vertigo on Sunday October 30th, 2005 9:00 AM (247 reads)

Yay! I got my PSP! I love it! I got the game Untold Legends to go with it. It's a RPG game that about everyone who has a PSP owns. It's even multi-player!

I tested out the MP3 player on it, and it works awesome. I don't have much storage space at all though. It only comes with a 32MB memory stick. It's basically enough to save your game saves on. I'm pretty sure I'll have at least a 512MB stick on my Christmas list this year!

Anyway, it's a lot of fun, and worth every penny so far. I think everyone should have one!

I'm gonna do it. Tonight on my way home from work I'm getting my PlayStation Portable (PSP). I'm trading in my PS2 and my games for store credit at GameStop, and then I'm going to pay the difference. I'm undecided yet on what game I want, but on November 1, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 comes out. I'm pretty sure I'll be picking that up. Tonight I may get something like Tiger Woods '06 or Madden '06. There is a decent RPG out for it too, but with Battlefront 2 coming out in a week or so, I won't have much time to get very far in it. I might get it anyway though because it'll be a last minute decision.

A couple guys at work have PSPs, and they are incredible. The graphics are awesome, and the screen clarity is amazing. It also plays movies. You can even buy memory cards for it too so you can store files and play media off of it. It works as a portable movie player, MP3 player, and oh yeah, a game system. With all it can do, its cheaper than an iPod Video too.

...and I'm a video game addict.

Ya remember a few posts ago when I talked about quitting EQ2 because I had other things I wanted to do? Well, my plan was to do some other stuff which included playing some other video games that I could enjoy without the time commitment of EQ2.

Well, it didn't QUITE work out like I had originally thought.

Blog - Games : A Little Break...

Well, I have made the decision that I'm taking a break from playing EverQuest 2 for a while. I still really enjoy the game, and I think it's the best game of it's kind out there right now, but I'm ready to do something else for a while. I have other hobbies I want to indulge. EverQuest 2 takes a lot of my time, and there are other things I have been wanting to spend time on. Things like my web page, some stuff around the house, my Star Wars hobby, and even playing some other games!

My characters will still be there when I decide to go back. I'm going to enjoy having time for my other hobbies for a while!
